Leaflets and Posters
The EKF have prepared a strategic marketing campaign targeted towards grass roots recruitment. This exercise is all about getting people though the door – your doors. This initiative is aimed at increasing participation numbers at grass roots club level, increasing the awareness of Karate and its exposure to the general public.
The initiative has been devised into two distinct phases to run along side each other:

Phase one - Junior recruitment ‘The Hidden face of Karate’
The initial phase of the campaign ‘The hidden face of Karate’ is targeted towards the recruitment of junior members and a three-way folded leaflet has been produced to accompany a poster. The poster is designed to generate interest in the leaflets which provide a brief insight into what benefits Karate can offer our younger members.
The poster and leaflets steer interested parties to the EKF website where the ‘Find a Club’ search facility can direct potential new members to their nearest local EKF registered Karate club. The ‘Find a Club’ facility has been in operation for some time now and is already a popular feature on the website. But please bear in mind, this facility is only as good as the information it contains and it remains the responsibility for associations to ensure as many of your clubs are listed as possible in order to benefit directly from this facility.
The poster and leaflet is being dispatched to schools either personally or by postal services with an accompanying eight-page booklet affording faculty heads an opportunity to support the campaign by providing an insight into the English Karate Federation and Karate in general. The EKF booklet has been produced to provide a professional perspective of the EKF and will be used to present an identity to corporate clients as well.

Tony Smith, an England international, has been appointed to secure sponsors for the national squads and has already been busy courting corporate clients. Tony has been heavily involved in this marketing campaign, giving his time freely as have many of our supporters and he shares our common vision for the EKF to continue to grow and prosper. Photographs for this campaign were taken by Victor Kurzweil, a professional photographer who gave his time freely as did members of the EKF Karate ‘A’ squad who gave up a day of their holiday to participate. The designs were put together in consultation with Tony and Chikara Ltd who also prepared the initial printing proofs for final verification. The only cost borne to the EKF is final printing and distribution.
Initially, a pilot for some specific regions will be targeted where the EKF has representation within that area in order to support the interest that may be generated within that area. The EKF area representation will be derived from the clubs listed within the ‘Find a Club’ search facility list from the website, this is another reason why it is important to list all available EKF clubs, to maximise our and your presence nationwide.

Phase two - Generic recruitment ‘Karate for Life’
The second phase of the initiative involves a leaflet drop campaign. An A5 sized double-sided flyer has been produced for all clubs and associations to use. The flyer is more generic targeted to a broader spectrum encompassing a wider generalised demographic market. The flyer incorporates a space on the rear where individual club/association details can be entered either by hand, sticker, stamp or by printing.
This strategy will allow any club belonging to the EKF to request a batch of EKF flyers, insert their own local club details and distribute these flyers throughout their local communities or and target specific areas by letterbox drop, etc., without incurring the usual expenses for localised and individual marketing campaigns. The only cost to clubs will be postage & Packaging for delivery from the EKF.
The benefits from this particular approach are numerous:
- Professional flyer design and high quality printing provides a professional image to all potential clients.
- The cost to clubs and associations for designing and printing a range of flyers is borne by the governing body and negated for clubs.
- Clubs can place an order through the EKF Admin limited initially to 300 per club removing the cost of over production and wastage for individually produced material. The limit will be changed depending on demand.
- Clubs have the facility to target specific local areas to increase recruitment utilising their own distribution methods.
- An English Karate corporate image and branding is established throughout England.
These initiatives demonstrate how the your governing body are actively supporting its members at grass roots by providing these additional services and is brought to you courtesy of the English Karate Federation – working for its members.
For this to work associations have to send in up-to-date club details so they can be registered in the club search facility on the EKF website. This will allow people wishing to participate in karate to find their nearest club. Obviously if your club isn't registered then we can't send the flyers, so please check your club details are listed and correct. Remember the club list has to come through your association.
To place an order simply email admin@englishkaratefederation.com with details of your request detailing your club name, address and contact details. The leaflets will be dispatched to you with an invoice for postage and packaging. Please note - Flyers are currently out of stock.
