Last weekend marked the very first National Youth Development (NYD) training session – and what an incredible start it was! 🇬🇧

The atmosphere was buzzing as athletes came together for this brand-new initiative, designed to support young karateka in that vital age group of 11–13 (Key Stage 3). Both Kata and Kumite sessions were in full swing, with energy, focus, and determination shining through from every athlete on the mats.

The NYD programme has been created to give this age group the attention it deserves – offering the right balance of technical development, physical preparation, and the mindset needed to build the future of England Karate. Seeing the athletes working so hard, smiling, and learning together truly showed why this programme is such an important step forward.

A huge thank you goes to the NYD coaching team for their dedication and expertise in making the first session such a success. 👏 Your guidance is shaping not only skills, but also confidence and character.

And of course – thank you to the parents and families who travelled, supported, and encouraged the athletes every step of the way. Without you, none of this would be possible. ❤️

This was just the beginning, and already it’s clear the NYD programme will play a big role in building the champions of tomorrow. We can’t wait to see how these young athletes continue to grow over the coming months.

The future is bright for England Karate – and it starts here. 🌟🇬🇧🥋
